Dieting is funny. I'll cut way back on calorie intake and lose a bunch of weight. Then it stalls. So I exercise like crazy and lose a bunch more weight, but then it stalls again. So I eat more and exercise less and lose even more weight.
I'm sure in 5 lbs or so it will stall again and I'll have to change something to get it going.
I'm sure there are ways to slowly and consistently lose weight, but I'm too impatient. Even when I try to do it the slow and easy way, it doesn't seem to work for me (but that's probably because I only give it a couple weeks before deciding I need to workout 3 times a day).
